Master Emel looks to international market with Perfection

Master Emel has launched his first solo album, called Perfection, and is already setting his sights on it reaching the international market.

Better known as a member of the Dezil group, Master Emel – real name Martin Lebon – said he wanted his album to have a simple yet catchy title and one that would also be good for his album if it reaches the international charts.

Although the 22-year-old has known success locally with Dezil, he said he also has a solo career. His album took him eight months to complete and varies from reggaetone and dance to pure reggae.

“My favourite type of music is reggae, but I included a bit of variety to please my fans, some of whom might not really be into reggae so much. And I also wanted to experiment, because the music scene is evolving,” he said.

Tracks are in English and Creole with titles such as Give It To You, Ou lizye, Nou lanmour, Konfyans and Plis ki ere, and features guest artists such as Liska, Ion Kid, Damion and Sandra.

Master Emel will be promoting and selling his album in person at the end of this month in Market Street, Victoria, and said he already has several shows lined up at nightclubs.

He hopes his music will reach the European charts and has already sent copies to several nightclubs in France.
The album is on sale at the usual local outlets, and if bought from the singer himself costs only R100. He can be contacted on phone number 586895.
