Traditional dance classes move to districts

As part of its ongoing effort to promote our traditional dances, the National Conservatoire of Performing Arts is bringing them closer to the community through classes at district level.

These classes also form part of the school’s outreach programme.
Dance instructor Allain Jules said apart from targeting a bigger learning group, the classes will allow those taking part to learn the authentic components of the various dances.

He explained that the conservatoire has recently trained a number of regional part-time instructors to lead the classes, which will be organised in collaboration with other district groups.

Mr Jules added that the classes have already started in several districts, and the turnouts have been encouraging.

Registration forms for the classes, which are free of charge, can be collected at all district administration offices.
