Sisters accept statue of Mother Teresa
A statue of Mother Teresa has been unveiled at the Sisters of Charity, Anse Etoile, as part of their centenary celebrations.

The presentation was made yesterday by Madhumita Nag, wife of the Indian high commissioner Asit Kumar Nag, in the presence of the sisters and Indian naval officers.
The statue was brought to Seychelles by courtesy of the INS Mysore of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet.
Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910 as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She founded the Missionaries of Charity and worked tirelessly with poor communities in India.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 2003 and given the title Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. Recognised and honoured around the world, she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
Mrs Nag thanked the naval officers for their efforts and wished the sisters continued success in their work. In return they thanked her for the gift of the statue.
