Weightlifting: Thelermont-Georges secures three gold
On the evening of Thursday , weightlifter Janet Thelermont-Georges claimed three gold medals at the ongoing African championships being held in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
She managed to improve last year’s performance which was three bronze medals.
Weightlifter Katsia Telemaque won three silver medals in the 48kg category for the seniors.
According to weightlifting chairman Robert Rose, Telemaque managed to break her national record in this category and improve on her bronze medal of last year.
Telemaque won three gold medals in this competition in the junior category last year whilst this year she was competing in the senior category.
International debutant Ian Rose was ranked sixth on the opening day of competition on Wednesday. But the chairman was pretty satisfied with the team’s debut in this competition. Ruby Malvina also managed to clinch three bronzes in her first international outing.
