St Michel bring down La Passe
St Michel edged La Digue based La Passe in a five goal affair at the Unity Stadium on Thursday evening in the TriangularTournament.

La Passe had been St Michel’s bogey team last season as they wrestled the crown from them. However despite their four foreign players, La Passe were hit with two blows in the first ten minutes. Young talented player Leeroy Coralie was the goal scorer as he showed his prowess to put his team 2-0 up at the start.
La Passe though battled back as they raised their game whilst St Michel grew complacent at the back. In the 42nd minute, La Passe captain, the evergreen Malagasy Bruno Saindini, produced a brilliant curling shot which beat goalkeeper Nelson Sopha to make it 1-2.
The goal lifted La Passe who drew level close to the break as Malagasy Asman Abdou picked out Rick Bibi who easily drilled the ball for a 2-2 score at half time.
Both teams had chances to score in the second half while the match became very physical but St Michel prevailed after a rare mistake by La Passe goalkeeper Vincent Euphrasie allowing promising substitute Trevor Vidot to score for a 3-2 victory.
The Reunion first division club SS Jeanne D’Arc will arrive in the country on Saturday to participate in this triangular tournament.
The 27 man delegation will play three matches, with their first on Monday against League champions La Passe. They will meet St Louis Suns on Wednesday and their final match will be against St Michel next Friday before their departure on Saturday.
Meanwhile the draw for the Airtel Cup was made on Tuesday. Pool A seemed to have drawn all the big guns together in a group of death. It comprises of defending cup holders St Michel, finalist St Louis Suns, league champions La Passe and Northern Dynamo.
The other pool consists of Lightstars, Anse Reunion and the two newly promoted clubs namely St Roch and division two champions St Francis.
