President appoints CBS deputy governors
Following amendments to the Central Bank of Seychelles Act on December 27, 2011, President James Michel has appointed two deputy governors at the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS).
Caroline Abel is the First Deputy Governor while Christophe Edmond is the Second Deputy Governor.
The appointment of Ms Abel, who was previously Deputy Governor of CBS, is with retrospective effect from December 27, 2011 while that of Mr Edmond is with retrospective effect from January 1, 2012.
Mr Edmond, whose appointment is for six years, was previously head of the Banking Services Division of CBS. He has worked with the CBS for nine years.
Pierre Laporte remains the Governor of the CBS.
On December 27, 2011 the National Assembly approved amendments to Sections 2, 5 and 6 of the Central Bank of Seychelles Act 2004 which introduced the posts of First Deputy Governor and Second Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles, in place of one post of Deputy Governor.
