Pilgrims Security being honored by Police Chief

Six security officers from well-known security firm, Pilgrims Security, were rewarded by the Police Department for the role they played in apprehending five young men engaged in criminal activities at the Providence Industrial zone. All five were delivered into police custody for further investigation and eventual prosecution. 

The officers responsible for this act of bravery and citizenship are – John Dookley, Terrence Souris, Javen Shariff, Peter Dookley, Erikson Ernest and Sony Larue. The officers were each rewarded with R300, presented to them by Assistant Commissioner Andre Valmont at a brief ceremony on Tuesday, 23rd January, at the firm’s headquarters at Providence.

On presenting the award, Assistant Commissioner Valmont said that the Police are giving the reward in recognition of the good work on the part of the officers. In addition to encourage further the community in assisting the police in their everyday policing duties. According to Mr. Andre Valmont, the good deed by the six officers was in line with the national theme, which is calling on the citizens to work together for the good of the country. The actions of the six men if repeated by others will help in the battle against crimes in Seychelles.

The managing director of Pilgrims Security, Mr. Roy Fonseka, in his address, emphasized on the need for the Police and private security firms to collaborate in crimes prevention. Mr. Fonseka said that it was his company’s original intention to help the police force with the task of providing additional security services. “We have to work together if we are to succeed,” Fonseka said.

The presentation ceremony was assisted by Police Commissioner Gerard Waye-Hive and other officials from the Police Force and top personnel within Pilgrims Security.
