SBC in Defence of IDC and Glenny Savy
The SBC gave the Executive Chairman of IDC expensive air time recently in the face a face programme to redeem himself and justify his failures of more than a decade in charge of the Island Development Company all paid for by the tax payers.
Glenny Savy in collaboration with Jacqueline Moustache-Belle who is now sounding more and more like a participant than anchor person failed to impress viewers with their most unlikely double act. In her attempt at sucking up to save Glenny from drowning in the sea of muck at IDC, she nearly pushed him under by asking Glenny to account for the squandering of over 300 million rupees of the people’s money. Glenny saw this one coming and skillfully maneuvered to duck this question and totally ignore it. Maybe we need another programme for Glenny to account for the monies given to him over the years by government – we hope.
However, Glenny pretended to be remorseful for all his bad deeds over the years. He is clearly guilty of wastage, mismanagement, arrogance and dealing in the shades, “out of sight”, unaccountable and all powerful running our islands like his own private property. He sat awkwardly in a chair which was way too small to take his massive frame, double chin overflowing on flabby neck and all. He had both his hands in front of his private parts, to protect what is left of his asset or liability depending how you look at it. His head was cocked to one side with a solemn expression on his face trying hard to be on his best behaviour and win public sympathy and to give the impression that big Glenny is a little angel, which he is clearly not. The Glenny Savy we know is a foul mouthed, arrogant and egotistical little man who likes to throw his weight around and intimidate all our local fishermen who has the misfortune of finding themselves having to go to one of our outer islands.
The other participants in the programme it seems were deliberately picked to make Savy look good and comfortable. There was no one there with any calibre to rattle the powerful IDC boss. After all, he was shrewd enough to invite them to Desroches recently all expenses paid where he lavished them with fine wine and food in order to win favour with the opposition MNAs and government alike. The trip to Desroches Island was only done to save his own skin rather than for the benefit of our Ministers and MNAs. He is a clever boy that Glenny, we will give him that. He will not go out without a fight and it doesn’t hurt to have the Ministers and MNAs on your side when the Sh-t hit the fan. Well done Glenny, you even managed to get Jacqueline Moustache-Belle to devote a whole face-a-face programme to your cause where you had the opportunity to put on quite a show yourself. Well done boy! We were suitably impressed by your slick performance. You put up quite a show! The cherry on the cake was when Jacqueline asked Glenny to sum up. Glenny turned all teary eyed and muster the most sincere voice he could make out in all humility and said meekly, “Thank you Jacqueline. You have made me a better man!” Come on Glenny, give us a break! Get real man, there is a stark difference between a Hollywood actor and an IDC CEO, do not get confused between the two. And if you thought that you have done enough to save your behind then you are deluded and you’ve got another thing coming. President Michel is clearly after you and he will get you come hell or high water! So you better come up with another stunt very soon if you want him to impress him and get him to change his mind.
The public is not convinced or fooled by your phony performance, nothing has changed with IDC and as long as you remain at its head, nothing will change. Glenny has failed at managing our islands efficiently and competently and he must go, go he must now, nothing more and nothing less. Goodbye Glenny!
