Reunion for ex-service men and women
Sunday July 5th 2009 will be a happy day for Seychellois ex-servicemen and women when they meet old wartime friends and chat about the experiences they shared and the joy of having made it safely to this day. They will be able to reminisce during a reunion which will take place at 1.00 pm at Happy Youth Club in Victoria
Forty-eight years ago, this month, around 150 men and women joined the British Armed Forces and went to England for a career. Most of them got separated once in England and some not to see each other again.
Today there are approximately 60 surviving ex-servicemen who have settled back home in Seychelles. So the meeting next Sunday will be a special occasion to commemorate the period from 1961 to 1972, when they served in the British Armed Forces.
