It flew under the command of Captain Nicole Chang Leng and First Officer Lishad Matharu and was timed to coincide with International Women’s Day celebrated on Monday, when the flight took off from Charles de Gaulle.

“The flight went quite well. We left Paris after a 10-minute delay,” Capt Chang Leng told Nation, saying her crew are experienced and as well trained to handle any situation – including security – as men.

Some passengers said they noticed “there were young ladies in the cockpit” as they got in the aircraft and they enjoyed the flight.

“It was very nice. We enjoyed the flight,” said passengers Cantegril Denis and Boudy Marilyne as they took pictures of the Air Seychelles plane.

The other crew members were Brenda Esparon, Patricia Raoul, Natalie Berlouis, Nicole Perreau, Sonia Isaac, Shereen Bristol, Tania Mellie, Stephanie Elizabeth and Angie Pothin.
Also on board were six French prizewinners coming for a four-day educational visit to familiarise themselves with the role of Seychellois women in the national economy.
