Building firm presents public apology
The building contractor responsible for the recent La Misère water pollution incident has presented a public apology to the affected residents.
S. Answar Mohideen, the project manager of ASCON, the contractor carrying out the
building project, said they are deeply sorry for the unfortunate incident.
“I would like to express our deepest and sincere apology to you residents who have been affected by the river pollution caused by the work from our site and we do understand the gravity of the problem and its consequences on human health,” Mr Mohideen said.
He stated the following measures to repair the damage caused to residents:
• to rectify damages to the water distribution system and pay for the water bills for February and March of those people affected
• to pay for claims for damages and personal expenses incurred in relation to this matter.
Mr Mohideen repeated their deepest regret for what he described as “an unforeseen and unexpected situation”.
