Lisa Labiche – high jump - She won the CJSOI gold medal with a new Seychelles record of 1.79m. to erase the old records of 1.72m (junior) and 1.74m (senior) held by France-based Céline Laporte
Strongman Selwyn Beauchamp got a new shot putt record of 15.56m on Saturday March 8 – day two of the Patron’s Cup competition held at Stad Popiler. He got the record in his fifth attempt and repeated it with his sixth and final throw.
Beauchamp added six centimetres to the previous best mark of 15.50m he had set during the Special Events Two Competition on Saturday February 9.
In middle distance running, Randolph Prudence of the East Coast club came to the fore with boy records over many distances – 2km in 7 minutes 03.8 seconds (7:03.8), 1 mile in 5:05.6, 1km in 2:58.99, 3,000m in 10:07.29, 2,000 steeple chase in 7:06.93 then 6:36.98, and 1,500m in 4:23.15 then 4:19.51.
D’Souza clocked a senior hand-timing best of 6.5 seconds at Stad Popiler in February and then established a new men’s senior 60m dash indoor mark of 7.02 seconds during the 12th IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships in the Palau Velódromo Luis Puig stadium in Valencia, Spain.
