First Lady and beauty queen unite to help children

First Lady Nathalie Michel met Sophia Marie, the reigning Miss Intercontinental Africa, yesterday to congratulate her on being the first Seychellois to win the title.

Also present was the chairperson of the Miss Seychelles Islands beauty pageant, Suzy Pierre.

The meeting at State House was a time for the two women to talk about ways through which the beauty queen can support projects to help less fortunate children.

Mrs Michel is current patron of the Children’s Homes Foundation and the Red Cross Society of Seychelles.

Miss Marie said her meeting with the First Lady was a great honour as well as a fruitful one at which they set the wheels in motion to work for the homes foundation on Praslin.

She said the project was especially close to her own heart and to Mrs Michel’s since they are both originally from that island.

Miss Pierre said the meeting with Mrs Michel will help the pageant to serve its real purpose, to help the less fortunate in society.

The First Lady also plans to meet Miss Seychelles Islands, Elena Angione, when she returns from South Africa where she is representing the country in the Miss World pageant.
